Caf Champions League aspirants Stellenbosch maintain their undefeated streak with a draw against Sekhukhune United.

The Cape Winelands team secured a 1-1 draw against Babina Noko in a Premier Soccer League match on Wednesday night.

What Occurred?

Devin Titus crafted Stellenbosch’s initial opportunity 15 minutes into the game, only to be thwarted by goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangaré. Despite Stellies controlling possession and generating chances, Sekhukhune also had opportunities, including Elias Mokwana’s powerful shot that tested goalkeeper Sage Stephens.

Nevertheless, Stellenbosch broke the deadlock just before halftime when Iqraam Rayners located Anicet Oura, who calmly slotted the ball home, granting the Cape side a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Early in the second half, Babina Noko pressed forward with multiple chances, but the visitors’ defense held firm.

However, after persistent efforts, Chibuike Ohizu secured the equalizer for Sekhukhune with a well-placed header in the 85th minute.

The 1-1 draw positions Stellenbosch in second place on the league table with 40 points, while Sekhukhune maintains fourth place with 36 points. Stellies’ unbeaten streak across all competitions has now reached 22 matches.
