JDR Stars Owner and Coach Nditsheni Nemasisi Expresses Disappointment Over Possible Signing of Key Player Sibusiso Ziba by Cape Town City FC Without His Knowledge.
Since joining JDR Stars in 2021, Sibusiso Ziba has established himself as a key and versatile player within the Motsepe Foundation Championship team. His adaptability and skill have been crucial as the club battles for promotion to the DStv Premiership, the highest tier of South African football.
However, reports suggest that Ziba has signed a four-year contract with Cape Town City FC and is set to join them for the next season, potentially leaving JDR Stars without one of their core players at a critical time. This news comes as a surprise to JDR Stars’ owner and coach, Nditsheni Nemasisi, who has publicly expressed disappointment over the reported move, stating that he was unaware of any contract being signed. If true, this development could impact the club’s promotion efforts and require significant adjustments to the team’s strategy moving forward.
“The current rumours, I take it as that. It’s just rumours for me,” Nemasisi told FARPost.
Has JDR Stars’ Sibusiso Ziba Signed with Cape Town City FC?
“It’s highly possible that people have signed behind my back; this is football. But for those that I know are official, I have not engaged with any team.
“We are choosing to focus on the league [promotion]. Whether the players have signed or not, if they are still professional on the field of play, we will use them, then at the end of the season, they can go wherever they signed, we will replace them,” he said.
Nditsheni Nemasisi on Why He’d Feel Betrayed if His Player Signed Without His Knowledge
“The same Ziba that they are saying has signed with Cape Town City; it will be a betrayal of a high note. But if he has done that we will accept and move on as a football team.
“I think Cape Town City should have contacted us or the player himself should have made it a point that we are involved in his move. But if he chooses not to, it’s also fine because it’s his prerogative to choose his career path,” added a disappointed Nemasisi.
“But looking at where we come from with him, he was at an ABC Motsepe League team where he was a striker, but we played him as a centre-back. He is playing in the midfield now as well. So we have done a lot of development in his career but we accept and move on.”

In the current season, Ziba has consistently demonstrated his skill and commitment, contributing significantly to JDR Stars’ push for promotion to the DStv Premiership.
