Like Krol, Riveiro can deliver PSL title in third season. However, Orlando Pirates supporters are notably impatient. Says Oupa Manyisa

The coach of the Buccaneers has faced challenges in overcoming Mamelodi Sundowns’ dominance in the Premier Soccer League during his initial two seasons.

What Occurred?

Former Orlando Pirates captain Oupa Manyisa expressed his belief that Jose Riveiro could emulate the success of former Buccaneers coach Rud Krol.

Krol led the Soweto giants from 2008 to 2011 and faced difficulties in securing the Premier Soccer League title during his initial two seasons.

However, the Dutchman ultimately succeeded in his final season at the club after finishing as runners-up in his first campaign.

Similarly, Riveiro guided Pirates to the second position in his debut season, although it seems unlikely that they will win the PSL title this season.

Manyisa sees potential in the Spaniard to capture the league crown in his third season at the helm.

The Manyisa Remarks

“Personally… I think he can, he just needs more time,” Manyisa said as per iDiski Times.

“We know Pirates supporters don’t have patience, if they can give him time, he will do wonders, you can see it.

“He’s won three trophies, now is the time he must challenge for the league [against Sundowns].”

The Greater Context

The Buccaneers’ quest for the league title this season has faced challenges, leading them to adjust their goals as they now aim to secure the second position by the end of the campaign.

To clinch the PSL title, Pirates may need to adopt an aggressive approach in the transfer market, akin to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Sundowns are known for their proactive approach in signing players, even from overseas, which has contributed to their success in securing six consecutive league titles, a streak they may extend this season.

The Broader Perspective

The Buccaneers’ endeavors to secure the league title this season have encountered challenges, prompting a reassessment of their objectives as they now strive to finish the campaign in the second position.

In order for Pirates to claim the PSL title, they may need to adopt a proactive approach in the transfer market, mirroring the strategy employed by Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Sundowns are renowned for their aggressive pursuit of players, both locally and internationally, which has contributed to their success in clinching six consecutive league titles, a streak they may further extend this season.
