Orlando Pirates star player Thalente Mbatha has finally spoken out about his future plans once the season concludes.
Mbatha, currently on loan from fellow DStv Premiership team SuperSport United, joined the Soweto giants during the January transfer window. His loan deal ends with the current campaign, but the Pirates have the option to make his move permanent.
Mbatha’s loan move to the Bucs was unexpected, as he wasn’t a key player for Matsatsantsa this season. At the Tshwane side, he struggled for game time, making only five appearances.
However, things turned around for the 24-year-old upon joining the Bucs. He began to see more playing time and has become a key player for the team. Overall, Mbatha has played 15 matches for the Pirates, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
What Thalente Mbatha Said About His Future
Mbatha says at the moment he’s still in the dark about what will happen to him when the season ends. He further added that he will know about his future when the season is concluded.
“At the moment, I don’t have an idea of what [my future] looks like. I will only hear when the season ends. I would like to win awards with the team,” Mbatha told journalists.
“For me, it was like improving myself in every game, so I was playing every game like it’s a cup final, where it will determine my future with the team and everything.
“I think it’s a journey that has been competitive and healthy, thanks to the guys for keeping the competition up.
“If you take training seriously, it will apply itself in the match, I think I need to improve and learn as a player.”
