Agent Talks Kaizer Chiefs’ Interest in Former Mamelodi Sundowns Midfielder Before PSL Transfer Window

Ntobatsi Masegela addresses transfer speculation connecting Babina Noko star Mkhize to the Soweto giants.

Mkhize, a regular player for Sekhukhune, has recently been linked to a possible move to Kaizer Chiefs. His agent offers a response to the rumours.

Kaizer Chiefs Reportedly Eyeing Sekhukhune’s Siphesihle Mkhize

Sekhukhune United midfielder Siphesihle Mkhize is rumored to be a transfer target for Kaizer Chiefs.

The former South Africa youth international has become a pivotal player for Sekhukhune United, starting in 19 Premier Soccer League matches this season. He joined Babina Noko from Mamelodi Sundowns before the current campaign began.

Following loan spells at Cape Town Spurs and Chippa United, Mkhize has emerged as a standout performer at Sekhukhune. His agent, Ntobatsi Masegela, has responded to rumors linking him to a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

Masegela’s Response

“Siphesihle Mkhize is contracted to Sekhukhune United and we thank the club for believing in him,” Masegela told FARPost.

“The fact that they bought him out of Sundowns meant a lot about how they rate him.

“And you know when a player is doing well, the so-called big teams are going to sniff around. But I can tell you now we haven’t engaged Chiefs over the transfer of Mkhize.

“However, I always say with all my players, they are ambitious players who are looking to improve their game,” the agent continued.

“So, all the interest in Mkhize has to be directed to Sekhukhune. I’m sure with the right offer, the club give him their blessings.”

The Broader Context

Questions have arisen about whether Kaizer Chiefs will target high-quality players next season, following criticism over their squad’s depth in recent seasons.

The potential pursuit of Mkhize, a former Sundowns player, may not sit well with Amakhosi fans, raising doubts about the club’s direction in chasing a player perceived as a reject by his previous team.

Additionally, Chiefs currently lack a permanent head coach, which could make signing new players risky, as they might not align with the strategy of whoever is eventually appointed.

What’s Next for Chiefs?

With only five games remaining in the season, it’s unclear whether Kaizer Chiefs will announce their new coach for the upcoming campaign before the current season concludes.

The Soweto giants are now preparing to face Mamelodi Sundowns in Thursday’s Premier Soccer League match at FNB Stadium.
